Kieran Trippier has been linked with a transfer window loan move away from the club, as the outlook on his Tottenham Hotspur future appears increasingly bleak.
Trippier signed for the club just the previous summer, a £3.5 million pound capture from Burnley that was designed to try provide competition and cover for fellow full back Kyle Walker.
However, the Englishman made just six league appearances last season as he failed to displace Walker from the first choice right back position. His omission from the opening day squad against Everton has lead to many fans speculating that the player may no longer have a future at the club, especially with DeAndre Yedlin still at the club.
Yedlin featured 23 times whilst on loan at Sunderland last season, an important member of the squad that avoided relegation under Sam Allardyce.
Aston Villa are said to be the leaders in the race to capture the former Manchester City youth player as they look to rebuild in the Championship.
Whilst The Villans have undergone a tumultuous few years, the club still has an historical gravitas that could prove alluring for the 25 year old, who would undoubtedly be considered an upgrade on their current options as Roberto Di Matteo continues his overhaul of the squad.
